Hello, Your travel agent booked this through a 3rd party company. No where in our tour listing does it say that 1500 lbs can be accommodated on the helicopter. We have no idea where that number came from, as 1500 lbs has never been allowable on the helicopter. Furthermore, the weights we were provided upon booking were highly inaccurate - the group ended up weighing a total of 175 lbs OVER what we were given. That makes a huge difference. The other helicopters were sold out, otherwise they would have been able to accommodate splitting up the group. We are on the hook for the one helicopter seat, which is why we cannot issue a refund. Thanks, Rachel DETOURS

It was absolutely fantastic. Picked up by Mark who was an awesome guy who knew everything and more. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a rather cold n windy place to be in January, but delightful never the less. I don’t know what I expected from the Grand Canyon, but to see it by helicopter exceeding everything. Our pilot, Pete, gave the greatest running commentary whilst giving us the greatest view I’ve experienced. Well worth travelling from the uk in itself. A long day yes, but Mark never slowed. From start to finish he was the ultimate professional.

This was an excellent overnight. I would highly recommend doing the overnight from Phoenix to have more time at the South Rim Village. The scenery is spectacular, and a few lookouts in an hour just isn't enough. We were encouraged to do the Mavericks helicopter tour ($350 per person), and it was the best way to see the canyon. It is a 45 minute bird's eye view of everything. The Detours guides were knowledgeable and hospitable. There are a couple of cautions on this trip. First, be prepared with your own snacks. The stops are often crowded and the food there is slow. You hardly have time for a sit-down meal. Second, the vans are very comfortable with huge widows for sightseeing. They have captains chairs for everyone, except for the back row, which is right over the axle. Those seats make for a pretty rough ride. Overall, a tour is a great way to see the Canyon and Sedona, so you can focus on the sights and not the packed highway. Detours was great for us.
