You have to see Grand Canyon from the air! Our pilot was a terrific guide and their helicopters are state of the art. Just do it!!
Great trip, not to be missed. Memo our tour guide and driver was very knowledgeable and provided a constant summary of information on the surrounding area. Stops were well timed, food was probably the biggest sandwiches we have ever seen! We took the Maverick helicopter tour with pilot Patrick. He was very smooth in the air and the flight out over the forest lulled us just enough for our hearts to jump out of our chests as we went over the rim to the canyon. Wow what an experience! After the flight we had time for photos with the pilot and copter before joining the rest of the tour group for additional stops along the south rim before making our way home.
The tour company, Detours, were very flexible in allowing us to change our schedule at the last moment. A tour not to be missed, great value for money.
This tour is highly recommended!
For starters, everyone helicopter riders or not is traveling on the bus from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon, yet non-helicopter riders are forced to wait on us for up to 2 hours at the Grand Canyon Village. Also, we were told non-helicopter riders could only get to see about 10 of the Grand Canyon on the ground, while helicopter riders get to see up to 60 of it!!
Our tour guide / driver, Jason, is very knowledgable with a great sense of humor! The pit stops at Sedona and later at the Cameron Trading Post inside the Navajo nation were GREAT!! In all, this tour is totally worth it!!
