We originally had a hiccup booking in which the tours were full but they were nice enough to allow the extra person in our party who booked separately to be on our same bus. However this review is for our tour guide. He was going dangerously fast pretty much the whole drive. Whipping around cliffs and mountains on one way narrow streets is probably not the best choice. My party took dramamine, wore cbands, and had ginger chews because we knew it could be a windy road. 4 out of 5 of us on the trip were so nauseous due to the tour guides driving. When we first got in the car, the other couple on our tour asked us if we thought the tour guide was high and had just rolled out of bed due to appearance/hygiene. During the tour, our driver was constantly speeding. We were able to clock him on Google maps going 48 in a 25mph zone on the actual Hana mountain side driving through the cliffs. And he was going 72 in a 45mph zone on the highway back home. We do have proof and pics of this. During the tour he also told us many things he should have kept to himself that made us worry about our safety. He mentioned he was just a fill in driver for this tour company. He said he was fired from his last tour driver job in Hawaii because they said he was a liability. Why would you tell guests this???? Especially at the rate of speed he was going. He also mentioned how he was arrested a few years ago. He mentioned how when he was 10 years old his father gave him a gun and illegal money to transport. Just overall never, ever things that should be mentioned to guests on a tour. He also took all of our leftover food from lunch to keep for himself which was odd. When booking the tour it also said we would arrive back around 630pm. We got back at 430pm and we couldn't help but wonder if we got shorted on our tour because of the rate of speed our driver was driving. Would we have had more time to spend and see things with a slower drive? Who knows. The tour driver was also racist, saying that all latinas are crazy and people need to watch out for us. Someone in the tour company gave the tour driver my phone number and the tour driver texted me multiple times to ask me for a tip. Very scary that he was able to get my phone number!! Due to the high speeds, we weren't really able to get a good view of things on the drive as we were zipping by so quick. We were all too sick and worried for our safety to enjoy it anyway. For $250 per person, I would not book again with this company. Although they were able to accommodate us all, if you're worried about your safety (especially on a road like Hana) please book somewhere else.

Aloha Lopez, As is our standard procedure when receiving a complaint regarding a driver, we spoke with the other passengers who shared your tour. Fortunately, they didn't have the same experience that you described. Let's respond to your statements. There was no "hiccup" in your booking. You booked as 2 separate parties who did not mention that you were together. There was no way us to know since you were staying in separate locations. Then you tried to add another person to your party 3 days before the tour date and were upset that we were sold out. The booking company that you used to book our tour went out of their way to accommodate you and moved two passengers to create space. This was due to the fact that your party made multiple calls to them and FIVE calls to Mahalo Tours in one day to try and browbeat us into accommodating your parties. For example, "I changed my flight to take this tour..." btw all calls are recorded. All of our vehicles have GPS which provides speed and location information. It does NOT corroborate your statement of the driver speeding during the tour. Please note that would be that fast during the actual Hana Tour without flying off the hairpin turns! The video posted clearly shows (later you changed the video on Yelp once we brought it your attention on our reply ) your moving the cell around and not the van. The vehicle was on a straight flat road with a speed limit of 45 mph while returning to the hotels. Please note that Google maps shows an incorrect speed limit of 25 mph [it most likely hasn't been updated since the repair/ construction]. Yes, the driver was speeding on the second video you posted . To be honest, he was just trying to get you back to your hotel and off the bus. You and your mom were speaking Spanish all day which he didn't inform you that he speaks and he personally translated to your mom all day. So, yeah, he didn't want to hear any more of the vitriol you were spewing. According to the tour guide and the other passengers, you were upset with the driver because he would not make illegal and/or unauthorized stops. The driver advised you that he could not break the law and/or company policy. The other passengers felt that you were trying to monopolize the tour for everyone onboard and it was not appreciated. As mentioned above, your party was staying in two different locations. The first location was in Kahului (Central Maui and had an had an estimated drop off between 4:00-4:15pm). The second location was in Wailea (south and that estimated time of return is between 4:30-5:00pm). Per the GPS, you were dropped off at 4:51 pm. Per the GPS, every authorized and required stop was made on this tour. You missed nothing. As you may have noticed, the statements from the other passengers on your tour painted an unflattering picture and corroborated statements made by the driver. Also calling racist when he is half your nationality and speaks your language is absurd. Yes we can also continue providing more information but every time we reply to your review you change it so at this point is pointless. Mahalo

This was a fantastic day trip! Definitely worth the time. Lot's of fun stops, our guide Louie was an absolute blast! He had so much information about the local people and culture. Always checked in on our group to make sure we were all doing great. He always engaged in conversation with each of us, and took the time to get to know everyone on his bus. The group was 7 & he made sure to talk with all of us. Lunch was great too! Make sure to wear a bathing suit & bring water shoes!
