This was my second booking with Sustainable Wine Tours — this time around as a treat to my team at the company I co-own with my business partner. It was a gorgeous day in the Santa Ynez Valley and, like my first experience with Sustainable Wine Tours, Scott did not disappoint!! His knowledge of wine country and the wine industry, coupled with his enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge with the public, is infectious.
For anyone interested in an UNFORGETTABLE, PERSONAL, and BEHIND THE SCENES look at some of Santa Barbara County’s best (and, mind you, sustainable) wineries, look no further. You will not find another tour like this — anywhere. Here's how our trip rolled out...
We had 3 stops at idyllic locations, none of which I’d toured before on my previous SWT excursion:
At our first stop, our tasting took place inside the vineyard owner’s beautiful home with one of his long time staff members, as he guided us through our tasting and the history of the surrounding wine country. Absolutely incredible (we had lunch here too!).
At our second stop, the owner/winemaker himself (Matt) walked us around his vineyard as we tasted his wines, giving insights on the local soil profiles, neighboring properties, and more. We saw some goats in a corral, and of course, we asked to pet them. Matt kindly obliged.
Our final stop included a tasting inside the estate owner’s hilltop home, to which we arrived on two ATV/quads after asking if we could have a little more of the real 'vineyard experience.' Along the route, Sean (Executive Winemaker) pointed out various grape 'blocks' and talked about the significance of each. When we reached the top, we were greeted on all sides by oak-studded hills, rolling vineyards, and a full table setting with wine, cheese, and crackers.
What's not to love? We’ll be booking again real soon. Thanks, Scott!
