This was my first white water rafting experience and I was a little nervous at the beginning however my worries were eased by our guide Rollie’s calm and competent demeanor. He quickly explained what we had to do and off we went. He was friendly and pointed out sights along the way. He made the trip so relaxing while getting us all to work together when necessary-I would highly recommend both the company and Rollie !

My experience with Jackson Hole Whitewater Rafting was horrible. The River guide Michele was inexperienced and literally put our lives in danger. There was not adequate orientation given prior to heading down river. We had 14 people in our boat, and why they put all the old people and kids in the same raft I’m not sure. No one was comfortable with rowing, no instruction had been given, several were unable to row, one undergoing cancer treatment, one 79 yo woman, 2 small kids, one woman with grip strength problems after hand surgery, As the rudder the guide is responsible to steer the raft and 5 minutes after we got in the raft she steered us right over these boulders sideways and our raft went up on its side. Two woman rowing on that side of the raft were dumped into the river. It was a very scary thing to encounter right away. Most on our raft were novices. We pulled the two women back into the boat. Again, we had not received any instruction about how to facilitate pulling them back in. So some of the men and the lady getting chemotherapy pulled them in with brute force. Michele started to keep going down the river until one woman on our raft spoke up. Everyone was anxious and traumatized. The woman said we need to stop and get organized first. So she found an eddy we could rest in while she then, much too late, proceeded to instruct us how to row, to be in unison, she took oars away from children who should not have had them in the first place! Right after the first incident Michele steered us to the far left where three of us on the left side of the raft had to duck to avoid a jagged black outcropping of rock from hitting our heads! We were all scared anxious and unsure of moving forward. Starting our trip out this way made the whole 8 miles very scary and uncomfortable. Also with our lack of confidence in our guide we were very hesitant to follow her commands. While we were stopped we also now, much too late, were instructed in how to dunk the people outside of the boat before trying to pull them back in to allow momentum from the life jacket. This was not explained prior or even during the rescue! Luckily we were on the river when the water level was low from drought conditions. I shudder to think what would’ve happened during high water. The two ladies who were dumped overboard were part of my party and one was experienced in river rafting and said never before had she ever felt like she was going to fall in. The other, it was her first river rafting and she will never go again she has said. It is unfortunate that we didn’t get assigned to someone more seasoned on the river who could’ve kept us safe. There was a man guiding another boat who had 40 years on the snake river. I really believe we should be refunded. Now two weeks later we still all have bruises, sore ribs, and nightmares. IF I go again I will insist on someone I trust as my guide!

Fun family rafting with 8 and 10 year old kids. The whole family had a blast. Staff were friendly and helpful from start to finish. Gorgeous views of wildlife and the canyon. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the trip a lot of fun. Would definitely go again! Highly recommend.
