Croisière printanière sur la faune

Aperçu
Travel into the protected waters of Resurrection Bay in search of gray whale on their annual migration through Alaskan waters on this 4-hour excursion. Gray whales migrate over 5,000 miles from Baja to the Bering and Chukchi Seas each year in search of food. They begin their migration north in late February and travel through Alaskan waters in the spring. In addition to gray whales, watch for humpback whales, orca, Steller sea lions, sea otters, Dall's porpoises, harbor seals, bald eagles, and many other types of marine birds.

Watching the sea lions dozing on the rocks. Seeing bald eagles close at hand. Good things to let the kids marvel at

March is too early! And the company MISLED me. We had a different wildlife cruise planned for the following day, but they did not look for whales. I called Major Marine Tours the day of and he told me they had been seeing whales that week, so we went for it. (he also told me a rain jacket would suffice, Thank goodness we didn't listen, it was freezing). Once on the boat, the captain told me there were likely no whales this time of year, and locals I talked to after the cruise shook their heads at the thought that a cruise would tease us that we might see whales this early in the year. This tour was long, many people were asleep the last half. They wanted to charge us $3 for hot chocolate! I will say the staff was friendly and helpful. The wildlife we did see was great, but we saw all that AND awesome glaciers on the other tour (the next day). Instead of this one, check out Lazy Otter Charters, out of Whittier. They were awesome!

Hi Kate, Thank for taking the time to send your feedback, and we sincerely apologize that you felt misled. We recently responded to your email, but wanted to address you concerns here too. The cruise you took was our "Spring Wildlife Cruise" and there are chances of seeing gray whales, orcas, or humpback whales, but wildlife such as sea lions, seals, porpoise, eagles, otter, and mountain goats are more common this time of year. We saw orcas on March 11th and 13th, so that is why you were told we had been seeing whales, but we apologize for not being more transparent about whale watching in the spring. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip to Alaska!

Absolutely beautiful scenery with great commentary from the captain. The second captain Laura she was juggling looking for wildlife and answering questions of passengers plus getting snacks and drinks for the ship. These two were the most pleasant knowledgeable captains. We didn’t see much wildlife due to the weather but they made the trip worth it.
