We opted for the Red and White Fleet as the boat wasn't as crowded as the other company's boat which is nearer the centre of Fisherman's Wharf. This was a good decision as it meant we were able to move around the boat to get the best views of everything we wanted to see. The audio tour is very good. It gives you lots of information and isn't as dry as some pre-recorded commentaries can be. The real highlight of the trip is sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge as it's only by doing this you get to see just how enormous it is - it makes you feel very small! Getting up close to Alcatraz was really good too as you see the other end of the island from the sea, not just the bit you see if you get the ferry over to do the tour. Overall I think the tour was good value for money, it certainly compares with other boat tours we have done in other cities. The boat felt very safe and we were lucky enough to do it on a warm calm day, so it wasnt too rough. I think it could get very cold and choppy out on the bay so would advise taking warm clothing and waterproofs.

We prepurchased tickets for a Bay cruise with the Red and White Fleet for Sunday 7th October when there was a big air show on, and I'm so glad we did because we had a wonderful time. The vessel that we boarded was a brand new one called the Enhydra. Enhydra is said to be the first aluminium-hulled, lithium-Ion battery plug-in hybrid vessel manufactured in the US. It had three decks providing views of the Bay and San Francisco skyline, as well as audio tour entertainment systems. The seating was great. The top deck was fully open with ample seating but as it was very hot I din't want to be exposed to so much sun. Therefore we went a deck below and sat outside under the shade where there were still excellent views. The tour lasted about 3 hours and a wonderful buffet was included-despite the "vigorous" appetites of some of the passengers, there was still plenty of food left at the end. The restrooms were very clean and I loved the Dyson taps which incorporated a very powerful hand dryer. This really was a wonderful way to relax and watch the awesome air display whilst cruising round the bay- I'll upload some images later- so i'd thoroughly recommend this trip, this vessel and the crew.

We took this cruise to watch the Golden Gate Bridge from the ocean, and also got to see many dolphins, and kite-surfers en route. Simply a magnificent experience!
