The times on the website conflict with another source of information which made it hard to know when we had to be there. We took the ferry to Sausalito and thought we were on time but we had to wait in line for almost 30 minutes. Because of this inconsistency, we didn’t take the ferry back to SF we just took an Uber because we had no desire to go to the ferry port only to find out that we were late or had to wait in a long line to get back. Otherwise, the ferry ride is beautiful and worth the money.

If I could give this a zero I would. We took the ferry back from Sausalito to SF. The tickets were an add on purchase to a tour to Muir Woods so we had a voucher for 3 adults and 1 child. Upon redeeming the voucher on board we were told we only needed 3 adult tickets and that we did not need one for the child. It did not make sense but ok. So as you can probably guess we DID need a ticket for the child. The woman taking the tickets was extremely rude. Yelled at us for holding up the line. Made us go back to the desk and find the woman we gave the voucher to who was also extremely rude and told me I had an attitude. Mind you the entire time they are herding you like cattle. Terrible experience. Totally defeated the purpose of buying the tickets ahead of time.

We used the blue and gold ferry going and coming from our hotel in Tiburon to San Francisco for two days. Everything went smoothly the first three trips. Trouble started on our last trip back to Tiburon from SF at 6:15 pm. There were many people on the boat getting off in Sausalito and the boat stopped a good 10 minutes, as it did in SF. But then on the next stop at Tiburon, it hardly stopped at all, and we didnt hear any announcement up on deck, so that before we knew it the boat, with us on it, was headed back to SF. The ticket taker said that we had to get off again in SF, but to come back to the ferry for the last trip at 8:20 pm. We had been told that the ferry left SF from gate 2, and that is where we had always found it before, so at 8:10 pm we were waiting at gate 2 - the only people around - with no one from the ferry boat company anywhere. Waiting and waiting at a locked gate, suddenly we watched a ferry leave from gate 1. NO ONE had come on the pier to notify us that the boat was at gate 1. We were clearly visible and those on the ferry never looked to ask us why we were there- even though they knew we would be coming back with them. So BEWARE for very short stops in Tiburon and for unannounced changes in gate.

We do make announcements at each stop and it is each passenger's responsibility to make sure they understand when it is time to disembark, however, we will ask the crew to make the announcements louder and more frequent.
