My husband and I just returned from a quick trip to New Orleans. We were only going to be there for two full days so we wanted to pack as much in as possible. After reading reviews I chose Strange True Tours for the walking tour of the Garden District and Lafayette Cemetery #1. I'm so glad we made the choice we did! We would never have learned so much. Grey was fabulous and my husband and I ended up with our own personal tour that day (a Monday morning) so we could hear and see everything and ask questions immediately. The tour started with a brief history of the garden district and how it was settled and then we learned about the architecture which was fascinating. We walked to see specific exmaples of architecture, homes of famous/known people, homes with stories or folklore, etc. The tour ended in the cemetery where we learned about the crypts. Grey is extremely knowledgable and clearly loves the city.

I'm not one to leave reviews, but after realizing how much I read them and how imperative they are to my decision making, my new goal is to get better about writing them. So, this review is a little late (I went on two Strange True Tours in March of last year) but after taking several more tours with other companies since then, I felt like I needed to finally get around to writing a review for my favorite tour company. My friends and I did the cemetery tour with Jeffrey Holmes (who I believe has moved to Ft. Lauderdale to open up a new Strange True Tour company out there). We were the only people on our tour (the 4 of us) so it felt like we were getting our own private tour without paying the price for one ;) We saw other groups being escorted around like cattle, and we couldn't help but feel like VIPs. Our tour was very factual and informative. Jeffrey prides his himself and his company on only presenting true information that has been meticulously researched. We enjoyed his tour so much that we signed up for the ghost tour the next night. Once again, we were the only people on the tour. We had the best time!

We went on the 4pm Strange True Tour and loved it! We had so much fun learning about the city and getting a sense of it's soul that we booked the 9:30 AM bike tour for the following day. The tour guide was informative and entertaining. He clearly loves history and New Orleans. He was also attentive to the interests and needs of the group. I noticed him discretely checking in with a mom in our group to make sure the material he was planning on covering wasn't too risqué. The next day on the bike tour he must have noticed how quickly me and my guy were going through water because suddenly out of nowhere his wife/co-worker showed up with ice cold bottles of water. Really an excellent way to spend your time in New Orleans.
