My family of 5 spent Christmas week in New Orleans. One of the high points was a private walking tour w/Jeffrey Holmes of Strange True Tours. His knowledge of this multi layered city was impressive and the subject content was exactly what we wanted plus he regaled us with so many colorful stories of the city. The pace was comfortable, he graciously provided umbrellas, gave us restaurant suggestions, and answered all of our questions. One of the things that really impressed me is that he is currently researching several New Orleans pieces of history which showed me that he is striving to increase his knowledge about the city and therefore providing an even better tour. As one who had never been to NOLA, I came away with a much deeper understanding of the formation/culture/and builders of the city. I highly recommend his tours. It was easy to arrange, we communicated via emai and it couldn't have been any easier. Thank you for a delightful and informative afternoon:)

Jeffrey gave us a wonderful and wacky tour of the New Orleans French Quarter. If you want to hear about unusual historical and current day stories plus see the sights DO THIS TOUR!!! I can not recommend it enough for ages 16 - adults. Thanks to Strange True Tours for a great visit to the French Quarter.

We were delighted with both of our tours from Strange True. We first took the “original” Strange True walking tour through the French Quarter. Jeff was extremely knowledgeable, personable, funny, and is a wonderful ambassador for New Orleans. He was sensitive to the fact that our group had an 11 year old and grandparents, and we all loved the tour. He gives clear explanations of New Orleans history and culture, tying it all back to the present day. Entertaining and edgy, we would all recommend it. We also took the Garden District walking tour with Grey, who is a true historian and is passionate about architecture. It was an excellent counterbalance to our other tour, showing the more “refined” side of New Orleans, replete with fascinating stories spanning 200 years. One could take a self-guided tour of the Garden District, but the only way to really experience it and enjoy the details and history is with a guide like Grey. They also run an excellent operation – easy to book, great directions, helpful email communication, they were on time, and the tour was exactly the right pace and the perfect length. Both tours were highlights of our family’s trip to New Orleans.
