This was definitely a bucket list item! Weather was not on our side that day. It was cold, rainy and windy. Definitely wear layers and everything Alpine Air offers you. Despite the weather- This was an amazing experience! Everything from the helicopter ride up, to the dogsledding and learning about the dogs and how they live was an incredible learning moment. These animals are truly amazingly strong, well loved and taken care before and after the famous Iditarod race. We got to know the young adults that live up there 5 days a week to take care of the dogs in all weather conditions! And of course- we got to meet the dogs, spend time with the cute puppies and drive/ride the sleds. An Alaskan experience for sure.

The alpine air team was amazing! Very professional and friendly. The reason for 4/5 stars is the mushing team (dogsled team) on the glacier was not great. It was clear they were over the tours as they were direct and a bit uninterested in our time there. They went through the motions to check the box rather than going to extra mile for the tour. The dogsledding was quicker than expected, we spent a lot of time hanging out on the glacier and seeing where they lived. That was cool but definitely not what we expected. All other groups were able to dogsled together, however my fiancé and I were told to split up so we can each drive a sled for a family. Meaning we couldn’t do this together and also drove individuals we did not know. This was a bit concerning should something have happened. They also shared with us how poor their relationship was with the alpine air team on the ground which we thought was weird. We would book with alpine air again, but strictly a tour with them rather than transferring to a third party.

Stuart, thank you for taking the time to write a thoughtful review and for letting us know how this tour can be improved. I'm sorry to hear that you were not able to ride the sled with your fiancé, and we greatly appreciate your willingness to participate in that way. Every guest is important to us and should receive the same high-quality experience our dog-team partners are known for, whether it's the first day, or in your case the second-to-last day of the summer dogsledding season. We hope you'll fly with us again in the future where we can share with you even more stunning scenery of this region. Again, thank you for this honest review, it's very important to us. Best wishes, Christina Gerber, Alpine Air Alaska

Awesome and amazing experience. The chopper ride is somewhat quick, but scenic the whole way. A great way to get to see Alaska from high. You have plenty of time to meet and pet the dogs before and after going on the sled ride. The staff is friendly and understanding you’re there for the experience and to take photos and videos. You have an abundance of time to do that. Playing with the dogs is great! The actual dog sled ride is prob 20..25 minutes or so with some breaks in between for the dogs and for your party to switch spots in the sled from standing to sitting. They have boots, pants and coats there too to be warmer if you need it. Our day was sunny and 60 and perfect. Normal winter gear was fine but some days I’m sure are much colder. Great times and great memories!
