This tour was wonderful! Russ is an excellent tour guide, and so very personable. My mom and I are visiting a family friend, and we sort of decided to do this tour on a whim. I will say, it definitely has a small town feel; if you're from New York like me, take a deep breathe and be prepared to be immersed, and be ready to go with the flow. If you don't like history, this tour is NOT for you. But it was amazing! We saw the city, learned about the earthquakes that reshaped Anchorage, learned cool facts about the animals that live here, and the sunset was so stunning! We also saw a ton of animals, and it really just made our whole trip. And that was only day one!

I never got a chance to take this tour... I booked this tour 2 weeks in advance through Viator. I was staying in Anchorage for 2 days after my cruise and thought it would be such a great way to see another part of Alaska. I kept getting emails from Viator with info like "your tour is coming up", "your cc has been charged", "here is your ticket" and the last one said that the provider/guide will call me before 12pm on the day of the tour with final details of the exact time of pick-up. On 6/11, the day of the excursion, I was checking my phone frequently to make sure I didn't miss the call, no one called. So, at 2:30pm I call the number that's provided in the email for the tour operator. A guy pick up the phone and I politely said that I was just checking on my reservation for today because I didn't get call from the provider as per Viator email. He said that it's his home phone and why would he know anything about a tour. He was a bit rude and very annoyed. He told me there is no way he can give me a tour today. I had told him several times that I had booked this tour in advance, not on the day of. He sounded a bit confused. This is my first time using Viator (i booked all of my excursions through the cruise line) but if you advertise your services online and then don't even bother checking if you have bookings... He repeated that there is no way he can do a tour that evening, so I asked for a refund. I was baffled by the complete lack of professionalism in his replies to me. He said, fine I will refund the money and when I asked for reassurance on how and when the refund will be issued, he literally laughed and said that he just has to press one button and just hug up. I don't know if it's a single incident like this, in my case, but it was still not a pleasant experience. I was really looking forward and excited to go on that tour and this unpleasant and unprofessional experience has definitely ruined my mood. After this, I don't think I will ever use any sites like that for booking anything travel related.

My sincere apologies this happened to you. I will be contacting you ASAP I do not know how this is possible. I want to confirm contact information you were given. We would never talk to our guests in this manor. Please email direct [email protected] your VIATOR booking is also linked to that email and I will be notified. I review every email myself. Thank you.

Excellent vantage point high up in mountains for sunset that took place close to 11:00 PM in May 18. Sean, our driver, was polite, accommodating and upbeat. Regarding animal sightings: A few moose, including one alongside the road that eventually crossed it Several mountain goats that were too far away to clearly see Either a wolf or coyote Most of these were initially sighted by my girlfriend but Sean knew the places to do. No bird sightings or whales. As such, somewhat disappointing but it is not Disney so nothing is guaranteed. Major disappointment was that the vehicle was a wreck - dirty windows, trash on floor, missing seat-belts on some seats, rear passenger door could not be opened from the outside as missing handle, and driver mirror smashed. No excuse for using a vehicle like this. Operator (not driver) said some vehicles were in for repair but this is no excuse for a dirty vehicle which can always be cleaned. Bring your own binoculars as the one in the van was a $5 special from 5-below. All in all - think twice about spending this much money on this experience.

Hi James, Thank you again for following up with me the day after your tour. I was also concerned about the condition of the vehicle when I saw it that evening. this is why I followed up with you the next day and we spoke. I am also issuing a partial refund due to your major issues clearly pointing out what I could have done to make the experience better. Rest assured I will always own my part. I will be making additional changes to procedure to insure this never happens again. All our drivers are required to maintain the vehicle when returning to the lot and do a full maintenance and safety and full inspection for cleanliness before leaving on tour. As you mentioned, we recently had two vehicles go down unexpectedly and Shawn was tasked with taking our winter van used for our Glacier Hiking Tours. It gets a workout during the winter months. Unfortunately, he retrieved the van last minute and we missed the bar on the basics. That blame is on me. I should have inspected it myself, prior to Shawn taking it out. I am glad you found Shawn pleasant and you were able to see animals. Unfortunately, we cannot predict when and where they will appear. But we do our best to place you in optimum locations and time, for the best chance. The vehicles we use on tour has a checklist of items we have available for our guests. From your description of the pair of binoculars, you were given. It is obvious they where not one of our standard issue. There should also have been water and snacks in the vehicle. Bear spray and a tripod. My sincere appologies for providing the standards at an acceptable and normal level. Thank you for pointing this out so we are able to grow from you criticism and provide the best experience possible moving forward.
