We took a day-trip to the Texas Hill Country and LBJ Ranch. On the way to the LBJ Ranch, the bus broke down. The bus was too small for the number of people on the tour. We sat at a gas station for over 2 hours. The company sent a larger bus to pick us up. The new bus was roomier, but unable to play the audio for the tour and did not have air conditioning. Our tour guide was Damon who was fun, entertaining, and accommodating.
We toured the house and looked around the ranch. It is definitely worth seeing. We also visited Fredericksburg which had some great German food and interesting stores. We did not have enough time to do the wine tasting, although no one objected since it was so late. Because of the broken down bus, the tour lasted 12 hours, making for a long day.
The company reimbursed us $35 per each ticket and weren’t particularly concerned about the inconvenience of their passengers.
Overall, I’d say that it’s definitely worth seeing the LBJ Ranch and Fredericksburg, but I think you could rent a car and see more without the hassle.
