The best bits of the tour were Luckenbach - a stunning little town with a great vibe and live music. But we only stopped there for 15mins! And the final drive through hill country was beautiful.
The LBJ stuff takes up an unevenly weighted portion of the day. I would be happy to see the ranch and then spend more time in the countryside. As it is you spend most the tour going around various places that have sme connection with LBJ.
Through out the tour they play CDs which are supposed to animate the experience with the voices of 'local' characters telling you about the landscape and towns around. While it should be fun, it's actually embarrassing and reminded me of awkward high school education videos. It's OK, you get out into Hill Coutry and learn a lot, but unevenly weighted and the CDS are tacky.
Our tour guide, Ray, was amazing and funny. He knew a lot about the hill country, restaurants, and fun things to do. The tour was well thought out as far as a variety of things to do for people with varying interests. The tours to the Texas White House, LBJ's childhood home and birthplace were especially enjoyable. I enjoyed the Fredericksburg part of the trip where we ate and shopped a little. Very good tour!
this was a great tour, the only thing that would make it better is if they would let you tour the top floor of the Texas Whitehouse!!
