My wife & I went whitewater rafting with Trent from Outdoor Adventures on the upper Pigeon River twice. It was the first time for both of us & just had a great experience from setting up reservation to the bus trip up to the dam, & on the river. Trent was great , funny, & very informative about the river going down. There's so many rafting companies down there, but we will definately see them again!! Great experienced guides, great price, & great time!!!

Outdoor adventures did a great job with our two boats of 6. The guides were a bit chatty, but not to the point that they were trying too hard. We rafted twice with them over two different days. Once on the upper river for the adults and again on the lower for the little kids. The lower was great for the kids. I took my 3 year old not knowing how he would do, but he absolutely loved it. See pic below. The guide on the lower was fantastic with the kids. It isn't the biggest operation of the 12 that run out of Hartford, but its big and they are great. Leave your keys with them while you go and they give you a nice little keychain! They have plenty of space to change and get ready. The bus ride isn't too long, which is a good thing because listening to the same jokes twice gets a little old. Be sure to tip your guide if they do a great job. (They did for us) A note about rafting in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. There is only one river and its not in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Save yourself some time and effort and just book with the company online. You save some serious cash. Don't bother going into any of the shops in town that advertise rafting. They just book the trips. I think the discount for online is $10 which is good.

My family of 12 recently rafted with Outdoor Adventures and we had a blast! We've done a good bit of whitewater rafting in the past on several different rivers, and comparatively, O.A. is among the best at what they do. They have experienced guides, self-bailing rafts, and an overall fun staff. It's a very, very professional operation. We did the Upper Pigeon and will do it again. We would also like to do the Lower Pigeon in duckies after the guided trip down the Upper to make for a longer day on the water. The only negative, and it has nothing to do with O.A., is that there are a lot of rafts with other companies on the river at the same time so it gets a little crowded.
