On this nostalgic and educational tour, we will lead you on a "Christmas treasure hunt" through downtown Chicago in search of the most stunning and impressive Christmas trees and other holiday decorations — and we know where they are! This tour includes not only visits to well-known stops like the Christkindlmarkt and the old Marshall Field’s, but also to little-known stops that contain some of the best holiday decorations downtown. You’ll learn about the origins of some world-famous Christmas characters — some of them from Chicago, some not — as well as the history behind Christmas traditions practiced by people around the world.

Our tour guide, Heath, was outstanding! His passion and knowledge of Chicago made the tour enjoyable despite the FRIGID temperatures!

I bought 2 of these tours for my architect husband for his 60th birthday and we both LOVED them! Hillary is a wealth of information and took us into amazing spaces that one doesn’t know to go visit. A great way to celebrate Christmas in Chicago (and architects’ birthdays).

The total walking length was 2 miles but we only saw about 4 or 5 actual holiday decorations. For the price I would have thought we would see more

Hi Jeanne! I am the owner of Inside Chicago Walking Tours, and I can say with 100% certainty, having created this tour myself -- and for information purposes for any future customers reading this review -- that you saw *lots* more than 4 or 5 holiday decorations. You saw 5 beautiful *interiors* that were chosen for how beautiful they are at Christmastime, filled with special holiday decorations and history. In addition to that, we purposely pass by and teach about several exterior stops for their decorations and history as well, including the Christkindlmarket, the Marshall Field's windows, and Chicago's official city Christmas tree. I'm sorry you felt we should have fit more into those 2 hours, but most customers do find this to be the perfect amount of walking/sites, many of which they would not have discovered on their own.
