Last time my husband and I were on Oahu we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center for a luau. This time around I wanted to find something a bit more small and intimate. Toa Luau was a great change of pace compared to the bigger luau’s on the island. It is set in a beautiful location at Waimea Valley. We had a really fun time participating in the cultural demonstrations at the start of the luau. My only complaint is that I wish we had more time to do everything (opening coconuts, pealing taro and bananas, etc). The host of the luau was very funny and entertaining. The food although more limited in selection than other luaus I’ve been too, made up for it in quality. The band during dinner and the show was incredible. The show involved an hour of dances, representing the cultures of many different Polynesian islands. The fire dancing at the end of the show was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Overall it was an excellent luau for those who are looking for something smaller, more personable, and more authentic. - Visited 5/20/19
