A fantastic collection of turquoise gems, jewelry and information in a gorgeous former home. Located in an unlikely spot in Albuquerque, the museum had a lot of information. Whether you go there to learn about the stone itself, how it is mined or just see beautiful turquoise jewelry and stones from around the world, you will leave amazed. Not a museum for children. Tickets are not cheap but I found the visit worthwhile. I would go back.

We were in Albuquerque for only one day and had to pick one thing to do. We were so glad we went to The Turquoise Museum! It was beautifully done in every way from start to finish. We spent 2 hours looking through the museum and could have stayed longer. It worked well to let a small group in every 30 minutes to watch the video and then go through the museum. The story about all the different kinds of turquoise and the mining and the history were interesting and explained well. Throughout the whole building there were beautiful pieces of turquoise in all different forms, original rock samples and beautiful jewelry of all kinds. We took so many pictures because we wanted to remember the stories and information and the beauty of the turquoise of all different colors and shapes and sizes. This was very interesting and educational and fun!

We went to the museum as part of a tour group we traveled with. I had no expectations but I really enjoyed it. There are a lot of turquoise displays from other countries as well as our own. As one would expect there is a lot of education about various aspects of the stone. And we took the workshop tour where we gained some insight into how jewelry is made, fascinating. The building itself was impressive. Apparently it was built as a movie set before the museum bought it-it’s beautiful in its own right. I think the museum is interesting and worth visiting.
