I really wanted to love this tour. I love donuts. I love food tours. I try to do them in every city I go to. I have done food tours in San Francisco, Prague, Seattle, and New York. Unfortunately this tour just didn't live up to my expectations. Issue 1: We started at a location that was not clearly explained. Everyone on the tour was looking for Beaver's Donuts, which was what the voucher said to meet at. Turns out the name was changed to something else. I don't remember due to Issue #2. Issue #2: The starting donut shop was closed. Not out of business hours. It was now a Mexican food restaurant. You would have thought the tour group would know this. Issue #3: Loosing out on 1 donut shop you would think they would add another in. Nope. We went from 5 to 4. Issue #4: We went from one shop to another. The guide had a preconceived notion of which donuts to get at each shop. This actually caused me to try donuts I normally would not have which was good. However for the price you pay for a food tour I usually expect some value beyond just "OK I'm going to go in and buy some donuts, bring them out, we will eat them on the street and then move on." There was no prep. I honestly think if you plug donut into Yelp and then mapquest the shortest route you would get the same results. Advice for the food tour. Talk to the vendors and consider getting some special donuts made or maybe having some more interesting back stories on the shops.

Thanks so much for the feedback! To address some of your concerns, I totally agree. Our first stop had randomly, and without warning, rented out their spot on the day of the tour. We were literally at that location the day before and they did not mention this was happening. I think our tour guide did the best he could and redirected the tour to the next stop as soon as we found out. We've been running this business for 3 years and this has never happened, so totally our apologies. It was completely unexpected. To your other concern, we always have 4 stops on the tour, so our tour guide made sure to replace our first location with another location to ensure you we still had 4 stops. He should have communicated that at the beginning of the tour, but if he didn't, again, our apologies. If that was not the case, please let us know. We totally appreciate the feedback. This tour is absolutely the BEST. We were lucky to have both Jeff and Ricky as our awesome tour guides. I never knew there were so many types and distinctions in donuts and loved each one - it was so hard to choose. The walk was great, you k=not only have a fantastic treat at every stop, but you see the amazing city of Chicago as well. I honestly can say I don't love doughnuts, but wow - I may have changed by tune. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour. It was the highlight of our weekend!
