We happened to visit the Kentucky Horse Park, where we had a choice of entering the park or taking a motorized bus tour of local horse farms. We chose the tour and I'm so glad we did! Shaun Washington, owner/operator is the man to see about Kentucky horse farms. He is personable, knowledgeable, likable, and a super nice guy! The tour lasts about 2.5-3 hours and is worth every penny. He took us to 2 beautiful horse farms where we walked through working horse barns with million dollar ponies being fed and groomed. He even had a pocket full of mints for us to treat the horses with! The tour topped off with a visit to Red States BBQ for a taste of their chocolate bourbon ice cream! Bring your cameras, learn about horses, bloodlines, racing, and the men and women who make it all happen. Shaun has a lifetime of personal stories from his days as a chaffeur to the owners and his relationships with the trainers, jockies and horses to share. Photo opportunities galore! Try it once, you'll be back. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Our tour cost $40 but it was worth every penny and more. See you in the winners circle!
