Smoky Mountain Outdoors Upper Pigeon River Trip is a Tripadvisor Top 10 Experience with a Travelers' Choice award, and the closest whitewater rafting trip to the cities of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge! No experience is needed, so all are welcome. Experience Class 3 to Class 4 whitewater rapids with a top-rafted rafting outfitter. This is the longest rafting trip on the Pigeon River, equipped with a guide in every raft.

Swimsuits and shorts work best. Secure shoes with a heel-strap are required (tennis shoes, water shoes, sport sandals with a heel-strap). Bare feet and flip-flops are not allowed. Don't forget to bring a change of clothes and a towel

We read tons of reviews prior to selecting a rafting company....SMO was top rated and we now know why. We had an amazing time on the river today! The facilities were clean...featuring a gift shop, changing rooms/restrooms and a nice, covered waiting area. Discount coupons were easily available and there was ample parking. Check in was easy and we had a short wait time. All staff members we encountered were friendly. Nathan was our guide...don’t let the baby face fool ya...this guy knows his stuff! He guided our raft and directed us with expertise and ease...ensuring a thrilling ride while also providing us with interesting information about the river, plants, wildlife and the Hartford area. Another plus...his jokes are actually funny! 10/10 would recommend SMO!! One suggestion...follow the suggested directions on the website vs GPS. We didn’t heed the warning and our GPS took us on a harrowing ride through the mountains on a very, very narrow, winding road with steep drop offs....my teens thought it was an adrenaline rush, but I was terrified!

Burkes was our guide. He was awesome and full of knowledge. Very professional and fun. The rafting was fun. Enjoyed the rapids.

Our guide Ian, was very informative about how to stay safe while having fun. So much fun! It was our second time to go down the river, and this will be on our list of things to do every time we come up here! Would recommend to anyone wanting to go rafting.
