We often learn the history and stories of heroes of the American Revolution and the early history of America. What isn't often covered in history classes and history books is the story of African Americans who were enslaved during this time. On this unique tour, we'll discover the stories of African Americans who lived and worked in Colonial Williamsburg. From the slaves buried in the graveyard of the Historic First Baptist Church, to the woman who left property to her freed black servants, you'll uncover the untold stories of the oppressed, and their path to freedom.

An interesting but dark tour of slavery in Colonial Williamsburg. To hear the stories of the enslaved and free is so difficult but essential to understanding this problematic time in US and British history. It is definitely worth booking, and we found the Hearth Memorial in William and Mary College absolutely worth seeing, so moving. Vincent was extremely knowledgeable. Would recommend.

Vincent our tour guide was very knowledgeable and we learned a great deal on this tour. It was well paced and thought out. I was very happy to learn about all the African American contributions to colonial williamsburg outside of slavery. Would highly recommend this tour!

We had a wonderful experience with a knowledgeable tour guide. Of most interest was the First Baptist Church and the difficult challengesf the slaves endured while trying to gain their freedom.
