This zip line adventure was so awesome!! So happy we decided to do this & get over that initial nervous feeling! Look for a Groupon or Living Social deal & save a few bucks. Our zip line adventure (which lasted about 2 hours) was scheduled for 10:00 (arrive about 30 minutes early), & everything went as scheduled. We had 2 zip line "guides" for our group of 12. Both guides were great in getting each zip line participant prepared for the zips. They were also quite informative about all of the animals at the park. We felt safe every step of the way. Before starting the course, the guides get everyone harnessed up. Then the guides drive the group via Unimog over to the 1st tower. The 1st tower will require going up several flights of stairs to get to the top. As recommended by the company, wear comfortable closed-toe shoes. Then each person will get their turn to zip the 5 lines. Of course it's natural to have that initial nervous feeling, but after the 1st zip, that feeling was virtually gone. The course includes 5 towers, and the final zip has 3 lines so you can race your partner or small group if you choose. The course is just as they advertise, as you are indeed zipping over large predators including lions & tigers & bears, OH MY!! :) And that initial free fall that you might feel from other zip lines (where the lines aren't as tight), there really isn't any of that on this course. The lines are tight, so you just glide across. In case you're thirsty on the course, there are 2 towers which have water. Participants are not allowed to have anything in their pockets (including cameras, phones, wallets, keys, etc). They lock up any personal belongings as you are getting harnessed up. We felt safe leaving my purse & hubby's wallet/keys. Wear sunscreen, particularly if you plan to visit the Out of Africa park after the zip line. Just before reaching the 4th tower, a photographer takes pictures of each zip line participant that you can purchase at the gift shop afterwards. Our only complaint was that they didn't have a cheaper package deal. $50 for the CD of pictures seemed a little steep. We just bought 2 5x7's for $30 so we had something to remember our zip line fun.

If you live in or will be traveling anywhere near the Sedona area, make time to zip line over the Out of Africa Park. We zipped last Wednesday while on vacation and had a great time! Our guides were fantastic (many thanks go out to Jasper & Chelsea). This was a great way to see the park and enjoy zip lining. At the beginning of each line and during the wait for others to zip, our guides told us about all the animals below, i.e. how they came to live at the park, their personalities and history, the other animals that they do or don't get along with, etc. None of us had zipped previously and we all enjoyed it. This a great two for one deal - the excitement of zip lining combined with a wildlife zoo tour from above.

After a morning in nearby Jerome (also worth a visit) we headed over to Predator which is located at the Out of Africa wildlife zoo. The staff were super friendly and very helpful in explaining the safety briefings while also throwing in a few jokes to keep the kids entertained. We had a group of 8 ranging in ages from 8 to 66 and half of us had never done it before. Our 8 year-old decided that it wasn't for her when we got to the top of the first tower and one of the staff picked her up and showed her some of the wildlife instead. There aren't any refunds. There were some pretty high winds and the towers do sway a little so the first timers (including my self) were a little nervous. Brown Bear and Nate, our guides, were very reassuring and off we went on our adventure and what an adventure it was. Not only do you get the thrill of zip lining down some pretty long runs but you're zipping over wild animal cages, looking down on lions, tigers and bears. The whole group, including my 66 year-old father, had a fantastic time and we raced in pairs on the final section. Launching off the platform with a lion sunning himself and looking up at us from about 50ft away was quite the ending. The photographer had captured some great action pictures of our group and we got a CD of our adventures. I would highly recommend Predator Zip lines to anyone.
