I learned a lot, but most significantly, i learned to sit further inside the raft to stay in the raft. I had to learn this by falling in and becoming a "swimmer" (not the good kind). After gaining quite a distance from my family in the raft I decided I should save myself and wedged myself on top of surface rocks for as long as I could hold. This allowed a rescue raft (one of at least two rafts I floated past) to reach me. I love those rescuers! Wish I had learned their names and bought them drinks.
On a plus, the "save your life" instructions in the beginning... Key (except for that, "they'll throw you a rope" line). Could not be more valuable. They saved my life.
Crazy, but I'd do it again. Still had a blast, once I overcame my "I'm not dead" state of mind and moved further inside the raft.
What a blast!
In hindsight, when they moved two other families to other rafts when they saw they had small children, we should have known our guide was green. I'm not naming the person because I think they're an awesome individual.
Live and learn.
Oh, and one last thing... They never threw that rope. None of the rafts I floated past threw a rope. Don't rely on getting the rope.
Fun!
