Our guide was extremely well-educated about the battle. He could answer any question. Our bus driver was very personable and did a good job maneuvering narrow roads with a lot of traffic. She explained to us how difficult it is to become a certified guide. Since I am not a civil war buff, I had a hard time understanding the battle. It would have been better for me if I had watched an introductory movie first or had a diagram to follow during the drive. That was my short-coming, not the guide's. A shorter tour might have sufficed for me. I would definitely recommend that if you don't already know a lot about the battle, that you start at the National Park Service Visitor Center and educate yourself before the tour. I think that would make it more meaningful for you. I do think that getting out to see the battlefield should be part of any visit to Gettysburg.
