My dad and I embarked on this adventure with Keenan (excellent guide) and a fantastic (60+) couple from Toronto. It was phenomenal. The weather was perfect. We hiked snow/ice, mud, dry/dusty, and rock-strewn conditions. The exertion required was (and sore muscles are!) very real, but also quintessentially satisfying. Experiencing the canyon from so many vantage points was tremendous, surprising, and sacred. The vistas — no words. The campsites were unique, historic (Phantom Ranch and Havasupai Gardens), and well-resourced. Keenan is a pleasant and capable guide, naturalist, camp chef (Canyon curry, bfast bagels w/ bacon & avocado, veg/quinoa soup, “Black Friday” dinner — we were well fed!), fitness coach, chauffeur, and encourager! The satisfaction and elation we shared when cresting the rim at our final trail head was priceless. This is what it’s all about - making memories.
