This is the way to get a taste of the outback in Sedona without getting lost and without the crowds! We rented a 4-seater ATV and did the 4 hour rental through the Outlaw Trail to the Honaki Heritage Site (we parked and did a half-hour hike through) and then to the Diamondback Gulch. This was so much cheaper than 4 tickets on one of those Jeep Tours with a similar itinerary, and you feel less touristy too. Sure, with a self-guided tour, we probably missed out on a tour guide's information and cheesy jokes, but we didn't miss that at all.
At first I was hesitant to book this because we're a mom and pop with two middle school aged kids and have never driven this kind of ATV before. I was worried about getting lost, but thanks to the other reviews, they were right! The directions/flip book are fool proof and the trail is perfect for ATV newbies -some slightly scary uphills/downhills, enough for some excitement, but not too difficult that your life is in peril. Wear your gaiter because it does get dusty at times and it comes in handy to cover your nose from the dust. It's also a little loud and bumpy, but a small price to pay for a lot of fun!
