My wife and I participated in the afternoon snorkel cruise to Kealakekua Bay and could not have been happier with our decision. First of all, we thought it was a great value considering other snorkel trips we've done, it was about $75 or 80 per person (book online through the website to save a few bucks). The trip is efficient, straight to the site, plenty of time to snorkel, and then straight back to the harbor. We didn't feel like we were paying for unwanted or unnecessary services such as "sunset cruise" or live music (when a crew member pulls out a guitar or ukulele). The boat had all the equipment necessary for a great time including snorkel gear and flotation devices. I'm not a strong swimmer and I really appreciated how they set out plenty of flotation gear so I could quickly grab some without feeling judged or having to ask for special help. The mask and fins worked well, good quality equipment, and once you're finished the boat has water slides and diving platforms to enjoy.
The real advantage to this trip is access to the very hard to reach Kealakekua bay and easy access to the snorkeling area. The catamaran delivers you directly into the great snorkel area so no distance swimming is required to reach it and the snorkeling is fantastic. A great variety of fish and coral to see without to many other people around competing for space.
We would absolutely do this trip again!
