Take a 2.0 hour sailing cruise on a Sparkman and Stephens Sailing Yacht. With your small-group, engage on this classic 42 ft yacht, that accommodates a 6 passenger maximum for an intimate cruise through the waters of Wrightsville Beach. This tour is a spectacular way to see the waterways, barrier islands, and marine life surrounding Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina. Please note, beginning November 8, 2018 our Sunset Cruise will depart at 3:00 pm. Sunset Cruise guests should arrive at least 10 minutes early.

We had an outstanding afternoon sail and the weather was almost perfect. The light breeze was comfortable but not quite enough to propel the sailboat without a bit of engine help. Captain Jim was very knowledgeable about the wildlife, the formation of sand bars and islands and the local area. Most gracious host. Getting on and off the sailboat from his dinghy might be a little challenging for some older or mobility challenged persons.

I can't really "rate" the sailing experience because a potential rainstorm (it happened!) forced a cancellation. That was a disappointment (we had guests from the West Coast), but we were given plenty of notice and offered a choice of a postponed trip or a refund. So we'll try again with the same company the next time we have visitors; they handled everything so thoughtfully and professionally!

Thanks for your thoughtful comments on how we managed the tropical storm Colin situation over July 4th weekend. I love sharing the NC coastline sailing experience with guests visiting Wilmington. To have locals and their guests onboard SV/Shamrock is a pure joy. I look forward to sailing with you guys in the near future. Captain Jim was a fantastic, friendly host for a wonderful 2 hour (and change) peaceful escape onto the Intracoastal Waterway around Masonboro Island and Wrightsville Beach. An expert not only in sailing, we enjoyed informative and entertaining conversation with Jim on his knowledge of, and love for, not only sailing and the area waters, but local wildlife, history, and the environmental concerns guiding (and sometimes in conflict with) the development of the area. Our intended "sunset sail" had to be rescheduled due to the weather forecast, and Jim was flexible and communicated well in finding a time that worked for our travel schedule (we were making a detour through Wilmington on the way through just to sail with Jim) as well as the other passengers and the weather. Highly recommended!
