Rainbow Ryders Hot Air Balloon

Rise early to begin your hot-air balloon experience. Stop into the office for check-in, then ride to the balloon launch site (which varies day-to-day depending on weather). Your pilot begins the process of inflating the balloon when you arrive. You can even help out the crew during the inflation process for a more hands-on experience. As you float high above the ground, enjoy incredible birds-eye views of the Rio Grande Valley. Your pilot determines the route for the day depending on the wind’s direction. You may fly over the city of Albuquerque and even dip low enough to wave at people or skim the Rio Grande River. Throughout your flight, your pilot shares informative commentary about the landscape beneath you. After approximately one hour in the air, your pilot lands the balloon and the ground crew comes to meet you. Celebrate your flight with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and a commemorative flight certificate before returning to the original starting point.

We flew with Alfred and had a great experience! Beautiful scenery in Albuquerque and he told us lots of great stories about the area. We didn’t get to fly over the river like I hoped, but you can’t control the wind. I was a little nervous about to be landing, but he did a very good job and there were several crew members on the ground to help. Drinks and snacks were a nice ending.

My son and I truly enjoyed our balloon ride during our Spring Break vacation. Dean and his awesome crew put my little boy's initial fears at ease. I hope to return in October for the Balloon Festival.

I'll start off by saying I am terrified of heights; I felt like this would be a good opportunity to challenge myself, and everyone I had talked to/all of the reviews I read said it was a really incredible experience. I am so glad I chose to do this experience, and so glad I chose to fly with Rainbow Ryders. Our pilot and crew were knowledgeable, funny, and there was no point in the whole experience where I felt unsafe. Some mild nerves as we ascended, but nothing after that. The view was incredible, and Dean (our pilot) did a great job of offering lots of interesting knowledge on hot air ballooning and the area. Highlights/What I appreciated: - as a solo traveler without a car there, I really appreciated the hotel pickup service they offered; it helped remove one more worry from my mind that morning. I also appreciated that they took me straight back to the hotel vs to the office, then the hotel, since it would save travel time for me - our pilot, Dean did a great job of explaining everything in a way that was simple, but thorough enough to help you feel comfortable Things that might be good for you to know: - dress in layers; you're out there at 6:45 a.m., and it can be pretty chilly. There can be a little bit of a breeze in the basket once you're in the air - make sure your camera or phone is secured; there were a couple of stories of people losing their phones over the edge of the basket - don't schedule anything immediately after the ride; give yourself plenty of time. Hot air balloon rides are dependent on the weather conditions, so you may or may not be up in the air for exactly an hour. After you descend, there will also be a light breakfast and a champagne (or juice) toast, then they'll drop you back off at the corporate office. - when you register for the ride, you'll put down a deposit. After the light breakfast, they'll run the rest of the charge. They have a credit card reader, and you can add a tip when they run it. Overall, it was an incredible time, and hands-down my favorite experience in Albuquerque. Definitely worth every penny.
