I live in Asheville, but I love learning more about the city and discovering new places. This tour is a great first stop for visitors as it gives a good overview of downtown and local attractions. It is an easy walk and covers the important people and places of Asheville, currently and some history. CJ points out multiple good places to eat and fun things to do, like the drum circle, Biltmore House, ziplining, and just hanging out downtown having a beer. The tour is only an hour, and is free! We have been in Asheville many times but this time we decided to go on the free walking tour. I wish we did this many years ago. We really never went through town we were always on the out skirts. Learned a lot and found new places to eat. Also the history of Asheville is very interesting. Loved the tour.

I went to Asheville July 10-16, 2013 to visit my son, who is doing an internship there this summer. While my son was at work, I decided to visit the city and do some sightseeing. The first thing I decided to do was take the free walking tour. Free is good, right? What a great way to get acquainted with the city, especially all the local eating and shopping establishments. CJ of Wilcox Travel, walked us down a few of the main streets in town and pointed out some interesting historical facts about the city. However, the tour mostly focused on the local culinary scene, which is extensive in Asheville! I went to a few of the places CJ pointed out, and they were all great. I even got a discount when I mentioned that I had taken the tour. One nice thing about Asheville is that most of the restaurants and shops in the downtown area are locally owned, so you will get a unique dining and shopping experience. I highly recommend that you make the free walking tour your first stop during your visit to Asheville.
