Formed by several hundred thousand years of erosion, the Badlands formations expose the layers of millions of years of the regions history. It is a landscape that makes you feel as though you’ve landed on Mars.

On this day trip, we pedal the nice, moderate Badlands Loop Road for just under 30 miles through the heart of the pinnacles and lower shale formations to the other end of the northern segment of Badlands National Park, where we will enjoy a picnic lunch. There are also longer options available if desired.

Enjoy close up views of wildlife and take in the breathtaking views of Badlands National Park. Enjoying this area by bicycle is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Our bike ride through the Badlands was amazing! Kevin was an excellent guide, very informative and provided a great experience for us. I would say this is the best way to see the Badlands!

Kevin was AWESOME! He created customized experiences that were perfect for our family, had great equipment, and provided delicious food and drink. He knows the best local spots, gave great advice and recommendations, and went “above and beyond” to make our tour a great experience. Best of all, he was extremely flexible and friendly and great at sharing his extensive knowledge of local history, wildlife, and geology in an entertaining and engaging way. We had a blast!

Amid our cross-country road trip, my partner and I wanted to visit Badlands NP, but knew that we only had one day to do so. To make sure we had the best time possible, got some great local beta, and had a great time (with no painful research and planning on our end!) we contacted Melinda and Kevin with Black Hills Tour Company to schedule a tour of the Badlands by bike! And we were very happy we did that. Kevin was a great tour guide who was super fun to spend the day with and he can also share some cool facts about the area, the animals, and the surrounding geology. If you think a bike tour through the Badlands might be a little rough (or that you might be a little out of shape), booking a tour with Black Hills Tour Company would be a great option, because our tour guide Kevin drove a support van with water and snacks and other bike essentials. My traveling partner hit a little wall a bit into our tour, and Kevin came to the rescue with some recovery tips and electrolytes and we were able to finish the day strong with his aid! all in all a great day and we were so grateful to have Kevin to make sure we had a great time!
