The longest running surf school in Lahaina, Goofy Foot was established on Maui in April, 1994 by the Owner/Instructor Tim Sherer to perpetuate his relationship with Mother Ocean and to teach the ancient Hawaiian sport of surfing. We are dedicated to providing professional surfing lessons to all levels of aspiring students in the spirit of fun and learning. We are committed to facilitating the highest level of experience for our guests with a focus on teaching safety, ocean awareness and surfing fundamentals. Students are guaranteed to standup and ride at least one wave, and even more are given a smart approach to learning to surf that is based on technique and fundamentals that they can use to accelerate learning on their own.

We had an amazing experiencing with Javier and Goofy Foot! My kids aged 9, 10 and 12 wanted to learn to surf while we were in Maui and Javier was so patient and reassuring with them and had them up immediately! We lucked out doing the 8am spot which worked out perfectly as it wasn't as crowded while they built up their confidence. So fun!

I had a really nice bucket list experience with Kelani (sp?) and Mark. They worked hard to get the whole group in position to catch waves - paddling is exhausting, and they actually towed us back out after many of our rides (amazing!) . They also worked hard at helping us develop our basic skills and were very supportive and encouraging. Good guys I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to go surfing!

We had a great experience taking a group lesson with Goofy foot. We had 5 kids ages 9-11 and myself. There were two experienced instructors who did a great job teaching us and each of us rode multiple waves! They were patient with the kids. We would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn to surf! They also had a photographer who you could later buy pictures from who captured your experience.
