Novices are welcome, as well as anyone who has tried surfing but could use some tips for balancing on the board and catching a wave. You'll get plenty of practice with paddling and pop-up techniques while learning about wave breaks, ocean conditions, and safety in and out of the water, including surf etiquette. After 16 months of not traveling, visiting Santa Cruz and taking a surf lesson was such a treat! The group size was not too big which made it easy to get to know the others and get sufficient attention from the two instructors. The instructors were super friendly and eager to help teach us how to catch waves. Also, the waves were quite calm so this would be good for those that are quite new to surfing and maybe a little hesitant to try.
