The title of this tour truly says it all. Initially, I went with this company because all of the other companies were sold out. The tour and the price appeared too good to be true. However, I am so glad that I went with this tour. The company that runs this tour, Hawaiian Eyes, previously catered to Japanese tourists, but because of the pandemic, they were closed. In March 2021, they re-opened with English tours. They are one of a few companies that are allowed to take tourists up to the top of the mountain, and their service was excellent. We were picked up at our hotel, and our tour guide, Shoyo, took us to the top of Mauna Kea to view the beautiful sunset and the night sky. He taught us about the history and the significance of the mountain in Hawaii culture. (Folks, it is disrespectful to hike up to the summit!) He took pictures for us with his professional camera, and he provided us with warm coats and gloves. The dinner sandwich was surprisingly excellent, and the hot green tea and hot chocolate that were provided with stargazing were a pleasant surprise. Overall, it was a wonderful trip and I will certainly re-book if I were to return. I highly recommend this company and joining this tour!!
