Really a once in a lifetime experience. Stefan was a great guide that shared a lot of information about Mauna Kea, the telescopes and stargazing.

What a beautiful night! Our driver, Stephan was very nice and accommodating. The summit is very cold and windy—even in the summer it was difficult to stay outside for more than 10 minutes or so. Even with the supplied parkas and winter pants! The company provided those, along with gloves, but I’d recommend that you layer, and bring a winter cap. Freezing! The sunset was nice, but honestly it was more beautiful at the beach. What we loved more was moving to a lower (not so cold) location, and viewing the amazing stars! You could easily see the Milky Way, and Stephan took amazing photos of us with the MW in the background. So many visible stars! The guides were knowledgeable about what we were looking at, and we very much loved this view that we cannot get at home. Great trip!

Wes our guide, and Mr. Aoki driver and photographer extraordinaire were terrific. Sunset above the clouds amazing; photographs taken by Mr. Aoki and downloaded to our phones a real perk; warm clothing provided at the top, with lots of time to explore and wait for sunset; star gazing with telescopes after, along with star sightings Hawaiian Eyes Tour the way to go. Arrived when they said, and ready to go. Van very comfortable.
