My friend and I went yesterday on the 11:30 tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and easy to hear in a large group. He kept us engaged throughout the tour. He was so great that our group doubled in size as the tour went on. That was my only problem with the tour. People that did not pay for the tour just joined our group and nothing was said. These people were walking the trail alone and I guess just decided it was ok to jump on in to our guided tour. The guide should have politely explained that this is a paid tour group and if they didn’t buy tickets they could purchase them for the next tour or something along those lines. I’m not the only person who was annoyed. If I had known I could have just joined up with a group and not paid then I would have just down that. It wasn’t just one or two people either so those people pushed all of us to the back unless you aggressively pushed your way forward. Anyway, if these guides want to give a free tour and just accept tips then they should do that. Not accept our tickets and then allow freeloaders to come in and just give them cash tips at the end.

Thank you for taking the time to review our Tour of The Freedom Trail. We're glad you had a great time! We as tour guides do NOT want non-paying guests on tours. Guests that don't want to pay usually won't tip either; they just distract the experience and block the view of guests who are paying. However, removing non-paying guests without taking away attention for the tour is a skill that requires a little technique and practice. We will take this as an opportunity to remind guides of a few of these techniques. This will give our newer guides the confidence and vocabulary to deal with this appropriately. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we are glad you enjoyed the tour.

Our guide was a well dressed, well spoken, very informative John Hancock. We were lucky to have a small group of about 15 people and our guide did a fantastic job with all his interesting stories. We learned a lot about the Freedom Trail, the Granery Burial Ground and Revolutionary history. The tour was listed for 90 minutes but Mr. Hancock entertained us for over 2 hours. It was a very entertaining and enjoyable - we would highly recommend it.

Our tour guide Judy was excellent! She really brought history to life. We booked this walking tour because we were so happy with another Viator tour we took 2 days previously and we weren't disappointed!
