Brewers & Barons Trail Tour

Обзор
Discover the people and places that made brewing a cornerstone of the Queen City’s history with a guided tour of our unique historical trail, featuring art installations and historical signage along the way! Beginning at the Hop On Trail Sign at Findlay Market, we follow the Brewing Heritage Trail along the eastern portion of the Brewery District, sharing stories of the workers, brewmasters, and beer barons from the 19th and early 20th century. Experience the places they worked, learn the dangers they faced, and the empires they built by producing America’s best brews.

Tours include a visit into the subterranean lagering cellars of the historic (non-operating) Schmidt Brothers/Crown Brewery, as well as outdoor visits to historic Hudepohl and Kauffman Brewery structures, and concludes with a pint of beer at Findlay Market. Those joining us in the underground cellar will need to be able to traverse a series of stairs leading in and out, but all guests have the option to remain topside.

As Cincinnati natives we only have passing knowledge of Cincinnati’s rich beer history. Josie did a wonderful job guiding the tour, which took us around and down under. The tunnels were a fascinating snapshot into the pre prohibition lager production. Thanks for a great tour!

The tour was more of an architectural building tour. We thought we were going to see more of the underground brewing cellars but we only saw one and we were only down there for maybe 10 minutes. The tour itself goes through a very sketchy section of Over the Rhine area. Lots of garbage in the streets and we actually saw a drug deal going on right next to the place we stopped at to view an old brewery. Very scary! We did not feel safe. Don’t think that we would recommend this tour to our friends. Don’t get me wrong the people that gave the Tour were very friendly and knowledgeable. Just not what we expected . it was a very long 2 hour walk with no water to drink and no bathrooms. So go before the tour starts or you will be sorry!

Hi Mesial, Thanks for letting us know about your experience and I'm sorry to see that it wasn't what you expected. We try to be clear on our tour descriptions about the locations we'll visit and that the one you selected is mostly an outdoor walking tour of brewery locations in the neighborhood, with an underground cellar component. I especially was disheartened to see that you felt unsafe, as we've been conducting these tours since 2006 and have never had any sort of safety issue come up with our guests. However, I'm glad to see that you thought our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, as we want to provide the most positive experience possible for our guests and that begins with our team members. Thanks again for the feedback and for joining us on a tour.

Aaron and Marco were excellent tour guides! The history of the neighborhood and the breweries was super interesting and the underground portion was really cool!
