We were at AVA about 20 years ago and it's only gotten better. We did the zip line in the AM and the Brown's river rafting with our kids who are 12 & 15. We all had such a great time. Izzy and Devon were our ziplining guides. They are so upbeat, positive, funny and full of information. They were so encouraging, especially with the kids, went over what to do each time and had such a blast with us as if they were ziplining for the first time too. If you can request them DO IT!
After ziplining AVA provided a fajita lunch - so yummy and so good as we worked up an appetite. After a bit of down time we were off to white water rafting. All the guides were so great and so upbeat. They gathered everyone rafting and went over what to expect. They offered wet suits, we jackets and helmets (no shoes - you need to have your own water shoes (required)). I highly recommend the wet suits and jackets. It rained and even hailed on us (we loved this!). Our guide - Togey was knowledgeable, was a great rafting guide and super w/ the kids. He made our trip super fun. He and the other guides were an incredible team when a boat flipped and they had "swimmers." Hey - it happens. AVA pulled all the boats to the side. The guides all communicated to make sure the swimmers were all accounted for, safe and got everyone back on the water. We loved how they all worked as a team and they were all calm. No one freaked out and the people that were able to "swim" seemed to be in good spirits on the bus ride home. What a wonderful time we had with our family. We would've loved to have done this again, but had to be elsewhere. Doing the zip lining in the AM and rafting in the afternoon made for a long day, but oh so worth it. Try to stay in Buena Vista (or nearby) if you're doing the all day. That way you can grab some local grub and relax. Such a great adventure! Thank you AVA!!
