Myself and my two sons who are 18 and 14 spent a week in Colorado on an adventure trip. We went rock climbing in the Garden of the Gods one day, did an overnight rafting trip for two days, climbed Mt. Elbert one day and spent one day at Captain Zipline Canyon Aerial Course. We were all excited to do the aerial course since we all watch every episode of American Ninja Warrior and both of my sons want to build similar obstacles on our property. When I called to ask about the course before I booked it I was told by the man on the phone that we would get to spend 2.5 hours at the course and that we would be worn out by the time we leave. He also said that if we had not tried everything we wanted to do that they would hang out for a little extra time because they were never in a big hurry and wanted everyone to have fun. He also told me that we can try any of the courses that we want because we cannot fall with the harnesses. When we arrived at the meeting place our guide was telling everyone how he woke up late and didn't get his coffee or breakfast so he wasn't feeling his best but he seemed to be in a good mood. When we started putting on harnesses it seemed like everything was going very slow. By the time we got all 9 peoples harnesses on and then went through the safety training we had already been there for one hour (we were scheduled from 9-11:30 and it was now 10). The guide told everyone that we are required to start on the easiest course which is the green. There are only two green courses so 9 people have to go through 2 courses which is very slow because you have to wait for each person to complete the obstacle before the next person can start it. After we each did our first course he told us we all had to switch and do the other green course. The "greens" may be challenging for some people but everyone there that day was having no issues with the courses. Then after completing the second green he then told us we had to do a blue course. This again took a lot of time due to waiting on the others that were on the course. Again this course was easy. After completing the blue he finally allowed myself, my oldest son and one other person to try a black diamond. My son and myself again completed these fairly easily with no falls by either of us so I thought we would get to try the double black diamonds which was what we both wanted to try from the very beginning. When I asked him if we could do the double black diamonds he told me we were out of time. it was now about 11:20. I told him that we did not get 2.5 hours on the course because we spent an hour putting on harnesses. He said that the 2.5 hours includes driving to the course, putting on harnesses, practicing, do the courses, taking the harnesses off and driving back to the office. I told him that I was told over the phone that we could try anything we felt we could handle and that we would not be held to a strict time line. He said he didn't know who told me that information but I could not try the harder course unless he said I could and that we were out of time anyway. There was one other person in the group that seemed very disappointed with the guides answers as well as myself and my sons since the whole idea for us was to try the hardest course we could handle and were not allowed to. I think this guide was tired (maybe hung over?) and hungry and wasn't really into providing us the best experience possible. I don't know how you would rule out having the same guide if you go here, but if you really want to challenge yourself I wouldn't risk the cost of this with the possibility that you would get the same guy.

We give everyone 2 hours in the canyon aerial course. The check in, 1 mile ride, gearing up, and training is not included in this time period. Our guests start with 2 Yellow routes, 2 Green, a Blue, then they can try the Black and Double Black. Check out the reviews for our aerial course and fabulous guides! We are the number one thing to do in Salida because we want everyone to have an epic experience. Sorry we didn't hit the mark this time! We appreciate the review which keeps things real!
