Chickamauga Dam Lock Kayak Tour by Chattanooga Guided Adventures

Locking through the dam is a great break from the ordinary. You wait as the massive gates to the lock open, and the boats heading upstream slowly motor out of the lock. We then kayak into the lock and secure our spots as the gates close behind us. We take note of the high water mark that is slightly below the decks of the kayaks and watch them grow as the water slowly drains into the river below. Once we lower 45 to 60 feet and reach river level the even larger rounded doors open in front of us and release us into the river to continue on the rest of the tour.

We had a great time on this tour! The whole experience was very well organized and executed. Expectations for the day including risk assessment, safety precautions, gear fitting/familiarization, and kayak operating instruction were very thorough and methodical. Our guide, Zach, was extremely knowledgeable on the local wildlife, waterway development, and history of the area. I highly recommend booking with this company!

I went with my Pickleball buddies for an adventure kayaking through the Chickamauga Dam Lock. What a great adventure. Zach was the BEST tour guide. And his sidekick, Josh was an excellent guide as well. I will definitely do this tour again with my grandchildren. I would recommend this tour for anyone looking for a fun adventure with a great history lesson as well.

A fun and relaxing way to start the weekend. Brandon is an excellent guide who knows lots of interesting facts about the Tennessee River, the locks and birds. Highly recommend
