We arrived around 10am, got through half then had lunch in the lobby restaurant and finished around 2:30. We paid $25 per person, in advance, and well worth it. So much to see (and hear)! If you are in Nashville because you are a country music fan, this is a Must See.

My mother and I saw this attraction while visiting Nashville on other business. We had a good time, but we saw everything we wanted to see within 45 minutes. I'm not sure why the hop-on/hop-off tour guide told us it would take at least 2 hours to go through the exhibits. We didn't sit and watch any of the educational films, so perhaps that's why our stay was so short. We were concerned about the high number of people who brought small children to the museum and let them run amok through the exhibits; we saw WAY too much snot being wiped onto the display cases and were nearly tripped by children who darted through the museum like it was a slalom course. We didn't see any museum employees on the floors; in other museums I've visited, employees gently remind distracted people to corral their children. If you have a vestibular disorder, avoid the spiral staircase. The wall of gold and platinum albums, the striped carpet on the stairs, the vertical poles running on the inside of the staircase, the spiral design, and the high contrast paint scheme can combine to trigger an epic vertigo attack in susceptible people. That's when we went looking for an elevator. Elevators were not well marked, and we weren't able to see the famous rotunda because the one elevator we were able to find sent us directly to the tour exit.

My husband and I had an afternoon to kill while visitng Nashville. We decided on the Country Music Hall of Fame because it was available (other places we looked at weren't available or sold out) and it was nearby. The building itself it really cool and and stands out in downtown Nashville. Upon going to the ticket counter, we were glad to find out it was a free day, although I'm not sure why. We were directed to the elevators and began the visit. On this day, some of the featured exhibits included an extensive display about the song writing duo of Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, Brooks & Dunn and Kacey Musgraves. Also seen at the museum were costumes from characters on Hee-Haw, personal instruments of famous musicians, gold/platinum albulms and the bronze plaques for each member of the hall of fame. It covered the early days of country music and up through contemporary artists. Overall, it was a nicely done museum but nothing really stood out to me. I'm not sure sure it would have been worth the regular admission ($25 I think) but maybe there are other discounts/free days.
