The National World War I Memorial is a national memorial commemorating the service rendered by members of the United States Armed Forces in World War I. The 2015 National Defense Authorization Act authorized the World War I Centennial Commission to build the memorial in Pershing Park, located at 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C. The park, which has existed since 1981, also contains the John J. Pershing General of the Armies commemorative work. In January 2016, the design commission selected the submission "The Weight of Sacrifice", by a team consisting of Joseph Weishaar, Sabin Howard, Phoebe Lickwar, and GWWO Architects, as the winning design,[1] which is expected to be completed by 2024.[2]

Eisenhower Memorial Located to the south of the National Mall, the national memorial is set in a park-like plaza, with large columns framing a mesh tapestry depicting the site of the Normandy landings, and sculptures and bas-reliefs arrayed in the park. Architect Frank Gehry designed the memorial and Sergey Eylanbekov sculpted the bronze statues of Eisenhower in various settings. The memorial's tapestry artist was Tomas Osinski, and the inscription artist, Nicholas Waite Benson. On October 25, 1999, the United States Congress created the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission, and charged it with creating "...an appropriate permanent memorial to Dwight D. Eisenhower...to perpetuate his memory and his contributions to the United States." The preliminary design proved controversial. After several years of hearings and several design changes by Gehry, final design approvals were given in 2017, when dignitaries held a groundbreaking ceremony at the four-acre site.

We did this tour with Zohery Tours. Thomas was our driver and he was great. He was friendly, funny and had a lot of information. The only thing is we wished that we had a little more time to spend at certain stops like the Vietnam Memorial and Korean War Memorial. We would recommend this tour.

Waiting at the Hyatt Regency for our tour bus, we were a little concerned when after seeing many motorcoaches pull up, our small bus arrived. The tour manager arrived to confirm our tickets, then left the bus in the hands of the driver - who I think was named Paul. We were initial unsure, however, the driver was the highlight of the tour with his years of historical knowledge of the area. He amazed us with all the facts and figures which he easily recalled during our tour. Getting on and off the tour was easy - probably easier than a large coach. The reason we took the tour was to get the layout of the area so better to decide what we wanted to see in more detail. We also had the ability to spend 15-20 minutes at each of the monuments - which after the initial day was a good break from walking. I would recommend the tour - we enjoyed it!
