Our food tour of Deep Ellum, led by Jim, was fantastic! Jim was a wonderful guide - engaging and very knowledgeable. All of the food we ate was excellent. I cannot say enough good things about this experience!

Jim was our guide, and he's extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area given his job working for the city. Despite this, he fails to turn all his historical knowledge into a story. For example, I asked as did another person how the area got its name. Jim tends to tell stories in more individual settings rather than to the group, or he may slow down on the walk but not really stop and gather when he talks so not everyone can hear. The food we visited included Terry Black's BBQ (chopped brisket, excellent!), Maracas (Mexican lasagne, OK), Easy Slider (slider, good), and Le Bon Temps (beignets, authentic and good). Overall, the food was good, the tour was OK. We needed to eat again a short time later which was disappointing for what we paid.

After researching your booking we realized that one of our third party tour affiliates had incorrect pricing, which was higher than our retail pricing. We were able to fix the error because of your review. I also have provided Jim with your feedback regarding his commentary style. He has been a professional tour guide in Dallas for over twenty years and he cares deeply about his guests. The guide was good. However, this experience is overpriced and I did not learn much about the neighborhood. You are better off going to Deep Ellum on your own and choosing three restaurants to sample yourself. We had three samples from three restaurants and a donut at the end. No alcohol is included.
