My sister and I were on a cruise boat in Alaska, and had booked the Haines Rafting Company trip through our travel agent. We took the ferry from Skagway to Haines (a very nice journey) and were met at the dock by Andy and his sister, Becky. We drove quite a ways to the point where we would set off on the raft. It happened that we were the only people booked for that day, so we had a private two-hour tour with Andy. He is a wonderful guide -- the nicest guy, full of great stories and information. It's hard to describe how fulfilling this trip is -- the quiet, the sound of water, the sight of eagles and many other birds, bear tracks, just an amazing experience. We couldn't have been more delighted with it. And there's a great snack at the end -- bagel and cream cheese with some local smoked salmon that was the best I'd ever had. Excellent family business -- don't miss this experience.

We booked with Haines Rafting Company apart from our cruise and boy were we glad we did! Besides saving some money, we also parted from the crowds, got in our own van while others were jamming into buses, and got a guide all to ourselves. There were 7 of us on the trip. Our kids loved getting in the raft and it was probably one of the most memorable things for them of Alaska. We went to a part of the river that the other rafts didn’t go and our guide was very knowledgable about the river and Eagles. We saw about 15 eagles I think. Our weather was gorgeous so that helped the experience be pleasant and enjoyable. We had a yummy but quick lunch at the end of the rafting. It all went quick because we enjoyed it so much though! If you are planning on this, take the Fast Ferry and book with Haines Rafting Company. Just know that the Fast Ferry is $70 per adult as of 2015. Enjoy!

Bryce was a great guide he made the rafting trip a fun informative adventure All of the guides seemed enthusiastic Did not see many eagles must be the time of year, when I went in May 2008 there were so many I could not count them. It was a nice relaxing float would do it again.
