Having never tried ziplining before, I was not sure what to expect. From the start, everything about the experience was top notch. After a brief shuttle ride up the mountain from the Broadmoor, we had a short hike down to the practice area where everyone was fitted with gear and taught the basics in technique and safety. From there, we began a series of three ziplines which progressed slowly in speed and duration. By the time we finished these three, all eight of us in the group had the hang of it. All along, our two guides were extremely engaging and helpful -- I think they must have run through all of their jokes over the three hours out on the course! After the third zipline, we stopped for some pictures at a scenic overlook and then proceeded to navigate two suspension bridges. The bridges were narrow and we crossed each slowly in single file, which gave everyone ample time to enjoy the amazing scenery below. This course saves the best for the last - we finished with two awesome ziplines where top speeds clocked in around 45 to 50 mph. Letting out a scream, whoop, or holler on these was almost an involuntary reflex! I purchased a Go Pro camera for the excursion, which provided a superb "helmet's eye" view for my zip experiences. The last step was an assisted rappel down to the pickup area, and our work was done. I would do this again without hesitation - an incredible course, great mountain views, guaranteed adrenaline rush, all in a safe environment. Check the "carpe diem" action item off the list.
