Food is good but not extraordinary. Owen is a wonderful guide - knowledgeable and fun.Definitely a little more history of the city than I was expecting, but it was all super interesting.

Going to all the historical areas and hearing the background about them was great. The food was great also. The Philly cheese steak was very good.

Matt was a great guide - 5 stars for him. But... If you've been on other food tours (we've been on many) you may be disappointed like we were. Stop 1 - tomato pie. This is a small slice of pizza without cheese or toppings. OK but kinda bland. Stop 2 - standing on the sidewalk to get handed a pretzel. It was fine, but no different from one you'd get in a mall. In fact, this place has hundreds of locations so nothing unique here. Stop 3 - Cheesesteak. It was good and came with fries. But again, not really any better than ones I've had at many other restaurants. Stop 4&5 - A missed opportunity to really see the Reading Terminal Market. We walked though but didn't really get to see any of the vendors. We stopped on the sidewalk outside and were handed a chocolate chip cookie and a whoppie pie which was good. But we didn't even see where they came from. We spent 10 minutes inside Macy's. Cool building for sure, but not food. We stood for 5 minutes outside a closed restaurant that was a bank. Heard how wonderful it is inside but had to look through the windows. Not a good stop. 20 people on the tour was way more than any other we've taken and I think limits their ability to really see small food vendors and go inside rather than standing on the sidewalk for 3 of the 5 foods. 3 hours was spent mostly not on food-related things and mostly not inside a restaurant. Maybe call this a Philly tour of a small area with some good but not uncommon food thrown in. Again - Matt was wonderful and helped improve our opinion. But otherwise we thought this was just OK.

Thank you for your honest opinion. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the food overall and other aspects of the tour. COVID has given us some challenges with bringing guests inside every building and we're hoping to continue to improve on this as our buildings and restaurants grow their staffing. Our tour is designed to max out at 18 people and to show some of Philly's highlights and most famously-known foods. We include some non-food-related aspects, but hopefully that didn't take away from the two sit-down dining experiences and a walk through the Reading Terminal Market. Philly has so much to offer and there's always more to explore with our other food tours that we have in other sections of the city.
