Wow, wow, wow! This was a blast!! We are on our first ever trip to San Francisco and decided to try the GoCar, GPS guided tour. It was incredible. Patrick and Ray at the Union Square rental location were very helpful. The GPS tour includes interesting information about different parts of the tour, but it wasn't over the top, as some tour guides can be. We highly recommend this adventure. We hope to find it in more cities that we visit.

Highly recommend this experience and company. I rented a GoCar 4 years ago with my daughter (we did the 2 hour), gave my brother a 3 hour rental for his birthday when he visited in Sept 2016 and just rented all day in October with my wife. Get there early and rent all day. If it is not your cup of tea you can return early with no penalty. The staff was helpful and really wanted us to have the best experience. We got there at 10 am on a Saturday and were in the car and touring by 10:30 am. Would highly recommend doing the reservation online ahead of time as they do sell out (especially on weekends). We followed the red route and loved the guided tour. Unfortunately the GPS tour guide stopped working around the Golden Gate Bride. I called the help line and they reset the GPS and we were back on our way. They also credited me for the tile we did not have the GPS working. After another 10 minutes of driving the GPS stopped working again. I reset the GPS and we were off again. It stopped working a 3rd time and they said to come back to the shop. It was no ones fault and no big deal because we have our phones so we just put the rental location in our phone and drove back. We didn't have the cool tour guide but we saw some cool places. When we got back to the rental place they quickly got us into a new unit, assured us we would get a discount and got us back on the road. It was the best that could be done in this situation. I was on vacation so I was chill and the staff were professional and helpful. It was Halloween weekend so we got brave and changed into our halloween costumes at the hotel at that point and toured the blue line (financial district). We dressed up, stopped and had lunch and had a ball touring all of SF as a cow and unicorn. We stopped at a street fair, went to a garage sale, took pictures at the Golden gate bridge, ate dim sum in Chinatown and took pictures in Union Square. It was a hoot and one of my favorite days ever. There is no way to see so much in one day unless you do GoCars. The GPS went out 3 times and we had to return the car plus the GPS unit was literally stolen from the 2nd car when we were at the street fair so it was not all roses but we were on vacation and rolled with the punches and Storm (the manager at GoCar) and the other workers (Scott) did everything they could to smooth things over. They gave us a healthy discount and did not charge us for the deductible for the stolen GPS unit. I could not have asked for more. I can not give enough complements on the staff and how they helped us when there were curve balls. The true test of customer service is not how they act when things are good it is how they help when things go sideways...more than once. These guys rocked it. I can not recommend this experience enough to visitors to San Francisco. To clarify - you are in a little 3 wheeled motorcycle. You have your freedom to drive where ever you want (except the bridge and freeway). You can go upto 50 mph but you are still in a little clown car sized vehicle and on the street with real cars. You have to have some moxie to tool around in traffic and use common sense so you don't get run over by a bus. If you use your common sense and don't do anything stupid you will have a blast. If you are timid and want a generic tour experience stick to the tour bus. If you want to see the sights, experience San Fransisco up close and personal then this is a must do.

My husband and I visited San Francisco in December 2015 and we pre-booked our GoCar experience. It was one of the best things we did in the area. I have recommended this trip to many other visitors personally since our trip. The Go-Car is basically a motorcycle with a go-cart body on it. We were a very tight fit, but it was a blast!! The car is open air, so dress in layers and have a scarf and gloves handy. We did our trip in early December and we are from the Northeast, so the mid-50's weather was balmy for us! However, you do generate a wind flying down the streets of San Francisco at 25 mph.!! The guided tour is great and very informative. If you decide to take a side tour, stop along the way or take a wrong turn, she (the gps voice) is there to steer you in the right direction. I must caution, this trip is not for the faint of heart. On some streets in the city there are trucks and buses and cars flying past you and you feel very vulnerable, but no mishaps at all for us. In fact, I think people went out of their way to avoid getting too close for safety sake. Make sure you add a little extra time onto your trip to allow for stops and not feeling rushed through the sightseeing tour. This was a wonderful experience and I apologize to the owners for not writing sooner. But, I have recommended it many time over and we would do it again - taking the other tour route - the next time we visit. Great idea and super fun! We are in our mid 50's and not small people either. Lots of laughs and a very unique experience!
