We booked the luxury car and were not disappointed. Carol, our car attendant each way, was friendly and gracious. The ride each way takes about 3 hours; the morning ride has yogurt, pastries, fruit, and beverages while afternoon ride includes cheese, salami, fruit, desserts, and beverages. Adult beverages are available for any additional fee. Yes, the pre-train wild west show is corny as is the return trip train robbery, but just get into the spirit of the adventure. (It was fun to see how much the kids enjoyed the pre-train show!)
This is not a tour of the canyon but only transportation from Williams to the park across some wooded areas and open prairie - very nice to relax after a 7-hour drive. We enjoyed the bingo and guitar players roaming through the cars. If you only want three hours in the park, this maybe for you. We wanted more time, so we booked the return trip for the next day. Regarding tipping - we always carry a cache of small bills to tip and don't mind giving a couple bucks to entertainers and service folks. I intentionally left a dollar bill out under a glass and was "robbed" by one of the bandits. Tipping is completely up to the individual. (I believe people can be disappointed and complain because they do not fully investigate what they are purchasing.) We would go again!
