My wife and I booked a ticket on the luxury dome car. The train was very clean and well appointed, well worth the price of the tickets. Parking at the depot is good. The "will call" was a bit confusing, but nothing terrible. It's a good idea to arrive a bit early for the silly wild west show and to ensure you have time to pick up tickets if booked online.
The scenery on the train ride was OK, but the Grand Canyon is the star of the show. The train is relatively slow, but a relaxing way to get to the Grand Canyon and back. We enjoyed the snacks and bar service to and from the canyon rim. We were traveling off peak so there were plenty of seats and we were free to wander around including standing on the back platform.
The entertainment on the train was kitschy but about what we expected. We would have preferred a "quiet car" options and passed on the singing/train conga line. Dutch, the wandering cowpoke was chatty and charming. Our train attendant, Dee, was chatty and helpful but a bit intrusive at times. This may seem like quibbling for what overall was a very good experience. We'd take the train again.
